Man arrested for issuing fake Royal Decrees


Police have arrested a man who issued counterfeit Royal Decrees, appointing himself as Deputy Director General of the General Department of Human Resources of the Ministry of Interior and Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Police made the arrest on September 15, 2023 in Phnom Penh, when the police force of the Central Security Department of the General Commission of the National Police conducted a search and arrest of a person named Hok Bun Reth

After his arrest, Hok Bun Reth confessed and admitted that he had falsified two Royal Decrees:

First, a Royal Decree appointing him to be Deputy Director General of the General Department of Human Resources of the Ministry of Interior, dated 01/09/23,

Second: a Royal Decree appointing himself as Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia dated 04/09/23 and forging business cards as an advisor to Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng with the same status as Undersecretary of State.

The forgery was made using a personal computer using Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop at 155, Street 7A, Sangkat Kantouk, Khan Kampol, Phnom Penh.

On the afternoon of September 15, the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Cambodia issued a notice to the leaders of all ministries, institutions of the Royal Government and authorities at all levels, as well as people from all walks of life stating that in recent days, crooks have been approached in various places, claiming to be assistants of senior leaders and pretending to be officials in various ministries and institutions

Sorn Elit, the Tallest Cambodian Taekwando Champion

He was speaking to The Southeast Asia Weekly on July 22. The Secretary General said that Sorn Elit, 22, is currently the best Taekwondo fighter in Cambodia. He has attended many competitions both at home and abroad and has achieved success in both fields. Chan Tra: Life of a Cambodian Traditional Tattoo Artist

His modern counterparts are limited in their repertoire in comparison. His subjects include the human form, birds and abstract patterns. Chan Tra is now an expert in drawing Ankor Wat on the skin of foreign clients, thus turning them into walking, talking promotional materials for Cambodia’s tourist sector. Chan Tra was born in 1963 in Sihanouk province and has two sons and one daughter. He is an orphaned and a Survivor of the Khmer Rouge regime.
