Four suspected-Taiwanese-drug traffickers face life sentence over 14,000 kilogrammes of drugs production and trafficking

Four suspected-Taiwanese-drug traffickers on March 9, 2023 were tried by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court possession, production and trafficking of over 14,000 kilogrammes of Ketamine, Meth and MDMA powder last year in Phnom Penh and Kampong Speu province.
Presiding Judge Song Ponnarith named the four accused as Ten Kuo Ching, 39; Khou Po Wen, 28; Lin Yi Chheng, 31 and Tien Chan Fu, 28.
Judge Ponnarith said that they were charged with “drug production, possession, transportation and trafficking” under the Articles 39 and 40 of Cambodian Law on Drug Control and with “Money Laundry” under Articles 38 of Cambodian Law on Anti-Money Laundering and Financing.
They were arrested on May 20, 2022 in Kampong Speu province’s Phnom Srouch district and if convicted, they all face a life sentence.
They were arrested after police in the anti-drug trafficking department in the Ministry of Interior and the court’s deputy prosecutor raided two warehouses located at a mango farm in Sangke Satop commune, he said.
After their arrest, police seized 40.51 kilogrammes of Ketamine, 1,425 kilogrammes of liquid Ketamine and another 11.525 tonnes of chemicals and related materials.Based on their confessions and cooperation, the police later searched their condo in Phnom Penh’s Boeng Keng Kang district, he said.
The search uncovered over 30 kilogrammes of Meth, Ketamine and MDMA powder as well as other drug related materials from their condo, he added.
During their hearing on Thursday, the four accused confessed that they were only manufacturing the drugs for another Taiwanese man who paid them and they did not lease the warehouse or own the seized drugs.\
They asked the court to reduce their
sentence, a verdict is due to on March 30.
