Teacher arrested for showing, distributing porn clips among students

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged a high school teacher with child pornography for showing pornographic videos to female students in a classroom during breaktime. 

He also forwarded some clips to the male students in the classroom who distributed it among other students, which came to the notice of parents who lodged a complaint against the teacher. 

The accused identified as Huoth Huy, 32, a high school teacher living in Koh Kong province’s Botum Sakor district, Andoung commune, was arrested on Friday and has been sent to prison pending the pre-trial. 

Huy was charged with “child pornography” under Article 41 of the Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation, and if he is convicted, he will face a jail term of up to five years. 

Ministry of Interior’s Anti-cybercrime office police deputy chief Lieutenant Colonel Meng Sothearoath told Khmer Times on Sunday that Huy was a teacher working with the Botum Sakor High School in Koh Kong province at the time of his arrest. 

Lt Col Sothearoath said, “A high school teacher like him is supposed to teach students to become good citizens, instead he showed them pornographic videos.”   

He added that Huy was arrested from Phnom Penh in accordance with the court’s arrest warrant and based on the complaints of students’ parents.

Huy could not be contacted for comment over his allegations.

Sorn Elit, the Tallest Cambodian Taekwando Champion
