THE owner of a Phnom Penh coffee shop was one of 15 people arrested during a drugs raid earlier this week.

Seven men and eight women were arrested after police targeted Casa Coffee Shop in Srah Chak commune, Daun Penh district, on both Sunday and Monday.

Police alleged Monday that Chea Khov, the coffee shop’s owner, and Ly Choeun, a motor-dop, were the leaders of a drug trafficking organisation.

“We believe those targeted had been involved in drug abuse and trafficking in Phnom Penh,” said Sok Penh Vuth, deputy governor of Daun Penh District.

A total of 12 packets of amphetamines, two cars and one motorbike were seized during the raids.

All the suspects are being detained at the Municipal Anti-Drugs Police Department before being sent to court.
