Kampong Cham provincial court on Saturday charged 10 suspects with drug abuse and drug trafficking, after a raid on two residences by provincial police in Memot district on Thursday.

Brigadier General Nuon Samin, Kampong Cham provincial police chief, said yesterday that three out of the 10 suspects were women, and they were all arrested on Thursday in the Rong Chak Skor village of Tramoung commune.

He added that during the raid police confiscated a total of 13 packages of yama tablets from the two residences, weighing about 14.3 grams, in addition to other drug paraphernalia.

“This is another success that our police have cracked down on drug abuses and drug trafficking in Kampong Cham province. To combat these in the future, our police now are working hard in patrolling, following and investigating the drug traffickers’ activities in the province. We hope that due to our strong commitment and hard work, we will be able to reduce drug abuses and drug trafficking in the province,” Nuon Samin said.

He added that the 10 suspects were identified as Chin Hong, 47, his wife Thor Ratana, 22, Yith Vicheth, 19, Long Theng, 25, Say Srey Pich, 23, Heng Sina, 24, Tesh Bunthoeun, 43, Suon Sothay, 27, Som Sroh, 19, and Tesh Sochan, 18.

Nuon Samin also said that since the beginning of April, a total of 65 people were arrested and charged with drug abuse and drug trafficking in Kampong Cham.
