A 51-YEAR-OLD man was shot and seriously injured after he attempted to intervene in the armed robbery of a 50-year-old gold seller in a marketing Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district on Saturday.

Touch Naruth, chief of Phnom Penh Municipal Police, said that Ke Phal was shot and wounded on his right thigh while Huon Thuok, a gold seller, was beaten and injured on her head when they tried to thwart the robbery on Saturday evening.
The suspects then managed to steal about US$50,000 worth of gold and money from her, before firing twice into the air and escaping.
