University of Cambodia’s Lecture on Student Leadership

Dr. Handa Lecturer Series on “Student Leadership” was conducted by the Asian Leadership Center (ALC) and College of Management at The University of Cambodia (UC) at the UC Conference Center on July 30th in Phnom Penh.
The lecture was over seen by Dr. Katherine Marshall, Professor of the Georgetown University, Executive Director of the World Faiths Development Dialogue, and former Counselor to the President of the World Bank, and The University of Cambodia Distinguished Professor with the participation of over 1,000 UC students.
Professor Dr. Katherine Marshall said that Leadership is very important for all people especial students who are the future leaders and human resources in the country. She added that to become future leaders with leadership qualities, students must know how to build on leadership, set training on leadership, and develop their speaking.
She continued to say that they shall also look at the people that are and suitable for the leadership, working hard and interviewing and find good way to work with people around them.
Pheng Puthy, a third year economic student of The University of Cambodia who participated in the “Student Leadership” lecture session, said that he was so impressed and interested with lecture session.
“I think that this training is very important for me and as a student I need to know about leadership. I have learned lots through this training which added to my UC’s knowledge. I hope that I will have important session at UC in the future,” he told The Southeast Asia Weekly.
He added that to become a future leader in Cambodia, he committed to study harder, working hard, building up his leadership skills via developing his speaking , confidence and learning from other famous leaders in region and in the world.
Seng Piseth, a first-year law student of The University of Cambodia who also attended the “Student Leadership” lecture session, said that he was so interested with the session. Piseth said that it is the first time for him to attend such an important training since he passed the UC’s scholarship in 2009.
“I am very interested with Student Leadership training. I noted that to be a leader, leadership is so important and thus, we have to learn as much as we can,” he said.
