CTTF Conducted Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Championship

A total of 48 Cambodian Table Tennis Technical Committees and Coaches have attended the “Tournament Organization Course” training over five days from the 25th to the 30th of April 2010 in Phnom Penh. The 48 Cambodian technical committees and coaches included 12 people from CTTF, 11 people from Department of Physical Education, Department of Physical Education and Students, five people from National Training Center, five people from the National Institute of Physical Education and Sport in the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS); four from the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).
Oknha Rat Sokhorn, President of the Cambodian Table Tennis Federation (CTTF) and also President of the Cambodian Vovinam Federation (CVF), said that it marked the first time CTTF has organized the “Tournament Organization Course” training for Cambodian table tennis technical committees and coaches in Cambodia.
The main purpose of the training is to prepare for the organization of the 16th Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Championship 2010 as well as to improve Cambodian table tennis committees and coaches’ skills, capacity and techniques for coaching or organizing the better national and international table tennis competitions in the future.
“Cambodia is going to host the 16th Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Championship on 3rd June 2001 in Phnom Penh in order to select the Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Champions for 2010 in Asia. So this training is important because it will help our Cambodian table tennis committees and officers in preparing and organizing this tournament well in Cambodia,” he said at an interview with The Southeast Asia Weekly.
Cambodia is scheduled to host its first international competition of the 16th Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Championship from June 3-7, 2010 in Phnom Penh, he said, adding that the international tournament is organized by the Cambodian Table Tennis Federation (CTTF), and funded by the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Association (SEATTA), and supported by the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports.
He added that about ten countries which are from Asia countries member will attend the 16th Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Championship on the 3rd of June in Phnom Penh.
Mr. Sun Sothearith, General Secretary of CTTF, said that the “Tournament Organization Course” training aimed to improve and strengthening Cambodian table tennis technical committees and coaches for the organization of the 16th Southeast Asia Junior Table Tennis Championship in Cambodia.
He added that the “Tournament Organization Course” training was organized by the CTTF and taught by Mr. Chan Foong Keong, a Malaysian experienced table tennis coach and also General Secretary of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
According to CTTF, there are over 15 table tennis clubs and associations with 100 trainees in Cambodia.///
