Cambodia Enthuses Sony’s FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair

The Sony Electronics (Singapore) Company Limited, SUNSIMEXCO Company and K.Four Company in collaboration with the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) have organized the “Sony’s FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair” in Phnom Penh to celebrate the FIFA World Cup™ South Africa, which will take place on the 1st of June 2010 in South Africa.

The “Sony’s FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair” was conducted for five days from the 5th to the 9th of May at the National Stadium Complex in Phnom Penh and the entry was free of charge for all people in Cambodia.

Mr. Vincent Yip, General Manager of the Sony Electronics (Singapore) Company Limited, said that it marked the first time the Sony Company, SUNSIMEXCO Company and K.Four Company in collaboration with the Football Federation of Cambodia have organized this “Sony’s FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair” in Phnom Penh.

The General Manager Vincent Yip continued to say that Sony Electronics (Singapore) Company Limited has signed an eight-year agreement with FIFA giving it worldwide marketing and promotional tie-ins for events between January 1st, 2007 and December 31st, 2014 including the flagship FIFA World Cup™ events in 2010 and 2014.

The main purpose of the event was to celebrate the “FIFA World Cup™ South Africa 2010” which will take place in June 2010 in South Africa. It is also to introduce and promote the Sony’s latest products which are the best of the ICT products for Cambodians.

“We are very proud to organize the ‘Sony’s FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair’ in Phnom Penh to celebrate the FIFA World Cup™ South Africa 2010. We think that this event will become an exciting opportunity for Cambodians because we have organized many different events including the displaying of Sony’s latest series products, soccer games, Futsal competition, and lucky draws,” he told reporters at a press conference on May 5th.

Sony’s lasted and newest series of Sony’s products included BRAVIA 3DTVs, BRAVIA LCDS, Handycam Camcorders, Cyber-Shot Cameras, and other Audio Systems. The Sony’s important products which have been displayed in this event included BRAVIA LX 900 3DTV, BRAVIA LX 900, and 3D Sync Transmitter, BRAVIA NX LCDTV, BRAVIA Internet Widgets, and Cyber-Shot DSC-TX5, and other modern products.

“As a partner of FIFA, the Sony Electronics (Singapore) Company Limited commits to provide its best experience of FIFA World Cup events via its important involvement and participations including electronic footfall games, football movie games, and music,” he said. “The Sony will promote its activities of products promotion and marketing for over 40 main events in the event of FIFA World Cups including FIFA World Cup™ 2010 in South Africa, FIFA World Cup™ 2014 in Brazil, FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFA Confederations Cup and FIFA Interactive World Cup in future,” he added.

Mr. Vincent Yip added that to provide the opportunity for Cambodian children to access the FIFA World Cup™ events, his company has sponsored a total of 8 Cambodian children including 4 males and 4 females which were selected from the Spirit of Soccer Organization in Cambodia to see the FIFA World Cup™ in 2007.

Ouk Sethycheat, General Secretary of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) and Director of the National Sport Training Center in the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS), said that the “Sony’s FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair” was important as it will help FFC and MoEYS for development and promotion of the sports.

The event will also help the Royal Government in encouraging the people especially the youth and young people to play football as well as other sports in order that they can improve their health and avoid from taking drugs and other illegal commitments in Cambodia in the future, said Ouk Sethycheat.

“On behalf of the FFC’s President Gen. Sao Sokha, I appreciate Sony for organizing this FIFA Football Promotion Family Fair in Cambodia,” he said. “I think that this event is very important because it will not only promote Sony’s products but also to promote the playing football and the development of sports in Cambodia in future.” ///
