The Best Practitioner of the Buddha Lord in Cambodia

At least 10,000 Cambodian people from Phnom Penh and other provinces and people abroad have come to meet with Preah Sak Khyak Vong Roath Saroeun, Advisor to Samdech Preah Sangkareach Tep Vong, and Chief of the Sovann Moni Sakor Pagoda called “Wat Samrong Andeth” locating in Phnom Penh Thmey, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh, during the three days of the Khmer New Year Celebration, this Year is of the Tiger, in order to ask him for blessing the magic water, raising their Reasey (good luck), for happiness in their lives and families.
Most of them said that Preah Sak Khyak Vong Roath Saroeun is one of the most well known Cambodian Buddhist monks who had strong magic and performs miracles in Cambodia. He can help them to reduce there sins as well as to raise their Reasey, lucky, happiness, prosperity and successes in their lives.
Preah Krou Roath Saroeun, 62, was an orphaned child and born in Battambang province. He became a Buddhist monk since his childhood about 50 years. He was able to read, write and speak fluently with four languages including Khmer, Vietnamese, French and English.
He is now the Advisor to Samdech Preah Sangkareach Tep Vong; Chief of the Sovann Moni Sakor Pagoda called “Wat Samrong Andaeth”; Professor and Director of the Buddhist High School in Samrong Andeth Pagoda; and also President of the Nationwide Buddhist Studies Association in Cambodia. He received 12 medals from the Royal Government of Cambodia for his excellent performances and achievements in promoting and developing human resources and development of the Buddhism, construction and his social activities.
“I have been a Buddhist monk for 48 years now and I decided to become a Buddhist monk because I wanted to study the teaching of our Buddhist Dharma as well as to develop and promote the Buddhism in Cambodia,” he told The Southeast Asia Weekly during an interview at the Wat Samrong Andeth in Phnom Penh.
Preah Krou Roath Saroeun has been the Chief of Wat Samrong Andeth in Phnom Penh for over 30 years. He has also lived in Kampuchea Krom in Vietnam for another 20 years. He studied and knows many magic and Buddhism skills. He can make Yoan Sak Sith (Magic Clothes) for the protection of people’s lives and their properties); He can bless the holy holly water to expel the danger of people or raising their Reasey to have good luck, success and the prosperity, and other more Buddhist skills.
“I am happy because I have also so many people inside and outside the country have known, supported and believed in me and come to get my help every day,” he said. “To spread out the teaching of Buddhist Dharma as well as to promote the Buddhism in Cambodia, I will continue to be a Buddhist monk until I pass away,” he added.
Preah Krou Roath Saroeun stated that nowadays, at least 100 people have come to get his blessing water or other services every day at Wat Samrong Andeth in Phnom Penh. He emphasized that in order to spread out the teaching of Buddhist Dharma as well as to seek the financial supports for the development of Buddhism in Cambodia, so far he has also visited about 20 countries in the world.
He said that to spread out the teaching of Buddhist Dharma as well as to seek for financial supports for the development of Buddhism in Cambodia, he plans to visit more countries in the world in the future. He added that to promote the Buddhism in Cambodia, he plans to establish the Buddhist University in Wat Samrong Andeth in near future.
There are the Buddhist middle school and Buddhist high school with over 300 Buddhist monks studying everyday in Wat Samrong Andeth in Phnom Penh.
