Cambodian Volleyball Team Wins Over An Giang’s Vietnamese Team

Two Cambodia’s Prime Minister’s Body Guard Volleyball Teams competed with two Vietnamese military volleyball teams in which Body Guard Commandant’s Volleyball Group B competed with An Giang’s Volleyball Football Team, and the Body Guard Commandment ’s Volleyball Group A competed with Vietnamese military region 9 at the Svay Rolum commune, Takhmau town, in Kandal Province.

The Volleyball Friendly Competition was organized by the Prime Minister’s General Commandment of Body Guard, and presided over by the four-star general Hing Hun Heang, Deputy Commander-In-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and also Commander of Samdech Hun Sen’s Body Guard Unit in order to strengthen the good relationship and friendship between the two countries.

Through the hard competitions, the Body Guard Commandant’s Volleyball Group B won An Giang’s Volleyball Football team with 3 sets against zero, and Body Guard Commandant’s Volleyball Group A won the Vietnamese military region 9 by two sets against one set, according to organizers.

The Deputy Commander-In-Chief General Hing Bun Heang said that the main purpose of the volleyball competition was to promote and strengthen the bond of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between Cambodian military and Vietnamese military, and the friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam.

General Hing Hun Heang continued to say that it is also to develop and promote sports playing especially volleyball in improving the armed forces’ health as well as to the celebrate the Year of Tiger New Year in Cambodia.

“I appreciate this Cambodian-Vietnamese Military Friendship Volleyball competition organized in Cambodia. I noted that although the Vietnamese volleyball teams were lost to Cambodian teams in this competition but they are really experienced and talent in playing. This is the new working experience that Cambodian volleyball teams should learn from our Vietnamese friends,” he said before distributing the prizes to the participated volleyball teams.

He added that Vietnam is like the older brother of Cambodia. To build up and strengthen Cambodia’s volleyball players’ capacity in future, he plans to send a total of 28 young Cambodian volleyball players to train 6 months in Vietnam in next year.

The Three-Star-General Tieng Sarun, Deputy-Commander of the Body Guard Commandment Headquarter, and Organizer of the volleyball competition, said that the Body Guard Commandment has organized Cambodian-Vietnamese Friendship Volleyball Competition every year in Cambodia in order to strengthen the cooperation and solidarity between countries’ military sectors.

General Tieng Sarun continued to say that to promote the good cooperation and friendship between two military sides he will continue to organize more sports competitions in the future in Cambodia.

“Vietnam was a good friend of Cambodia. When Cambodia was under the suffering and the killing field, Vietnamese troops came to help and rescue our Cambodian people. So through these competitions we hope that we will maintain and promote our good friendship, cooperation and solidarity in the future,” he said. ////
