Cambodia To Organize Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Golf Tournament.

The Cambodian Golf Federation (CGF) is going to organize the competition “Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen’s Golf Cup 2010” for two days from the 10th to 11th of April 2010 at the Golf Resort in Siem Reap province.
The Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Golf Cup 2010 is organized by the CGF and sponsored by private companies such as Hung Hiep Cambodia, representing Mercedes-Benz in Cambodia, and the support of other companies and banks operating in Cambodia.
General Eth Sarath, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Golf Federation, said golf is a very popular sport where a lot of business people and leaders like playing, He added that the CGF has planned to organize the competition of Prime Minister Hun Sen’s golf cup every year in the first week of April, aiming to celebrate the birthday of Samdech Hun Sen and to welcome the upcoming Khmer New Year.
Sarath continued to say that other objective of the golf competition is to promote the playing golf as well as to select the best player for the future for national competitions in Cambodia and in the region also to promote tourism in Cambodia.
“The Cambodian Golf Federation is very proud to organize the Prime Minister’s Golf Cup 2010. We hope that through this competition, we will be able to promote the playing golf in Cambodia to select the best golf players for the future national and international golf tournaments,” he told reporters during a press conference on March 31st
CGF has received the supports from a number of companies such as Hung Hiep Cambodia, representing Mercedes-Benz in Cambodia, that promises to provide funds to support competitions for the next five years and support from other companies and banks, he said, adding that CGF will prepare a certain amount of funds for the Cambodian Red Cross to help the poor people.
At least 120 golf players including Cambodians and foreign nationals will attend the Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Golf Cup 2010 in Siem Reap province, according to Sarath.
Relating to the golf competition, Sarath described that the tournament is opened to all Cambodian golfers and foreign people who have lived in Cambodia. The maximum number of participants is limited to 144.
He stated that competition is divided into categories including Category A (HDCP 0-13) which is Tee off White and Walking for 18 holes, and Category B (HDCP 13) which is Tee of Blue (by car). The entry fee is US$ 120 for those who are the member of the golf club and this fee has also included lunch, dinners and soft drinks; US$ 140 is for those who are not the member of the club. This fee is also included meals and soft drinks.
He added that according to the organizing committee, a total of 20 golfers will be receiving prizes from the Prime Minister Hun Sen’s Gold Cup the highest prize is US$ 3,000.
According to the CGF’s report, currently there are a total of five golf and 2 golf resorts in Phnom Penh within 500 golfers in Cambodia. ///
