Toyota Vehicles Display New Series in Cambodia

The Toyota Cambodia Company Limited which was originally named “T.T.H.K” established in 1993 was inaugurated and displayed a new series of modern Toyota vehicles on the 25th of March 2010 in Phnom Penh.
The inauguration ceremony of the modern Toyota cars was celebrated under the presidency of Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Japanese Ambassador Masafumi Kuroki at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Phnom Penh.
Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon said that Toyota Cambodia’s establishment has contributed to the economic growth, poverty reduction, development and the progress in Cambodia. He said that the Cambodian government is ready to welcome an incentive to both local and foreign investors doing businesses or investments in Cambodia in order that they can help the government to generate jobs for people as well as to reduce the poverty.
“I believe that the new Toyota car series which are imported by the Toyota Cambodia will contribute to the users’ lives and living-conditions easier and comfortable. It will also contribute to the economic and social growth, development and the progress in the Cambodia,” he said during his opening remarks at the inauguration ceremony.
Kong Nuon, Chairman of the Toyota Cambodia, said that Toyota Cambodia was established in consisting of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Fujilex Service, Toyota Tsusho (Singapore) Ptd. Ltd, and Kong Nuon Import and Export Company. He stated that the main policy of the company is to contribute in development of motorization in Cambodia, constantly providing and improving the best services to customers, and ensuring all customers in Cambodia.
Toyota Cambodia’s products and services included new car sales: campus, showroom; Toyota genuine parts: warehouse and genuine parts; other services such as customers lounge, workshop, periodic maintain, general repair, body alignment, painting booth, technical training and oversea training, he said, adding that his company has been importing to Cambodia with hundreds of cars such as Toyota Land Cruiser, Prado, Camry, RAV-4, Corolla, Coaster, Hilux Vigo, Pryace from Japan to Cambodia.
Masafumi Kuroki, Ambassador of the Japanese Embassy to Cambodia, said that Today’s occasion would announce T.T.H.K as an official and exclusive distributor of Toyota brand, not only engaging the current sales of cars and provision of service but also will surely make a great contribution to this country by training its staff and transferring and maintain skills to Cambodian workers.
“Toyota Corporation is one of the most well-known Japanese companies in Cambodia, and I believe that all staff of Toyota Cambodia will make the best effort to further promote Toyota brand under the TMCs fundamental principle of maximize customers’ satisfactions,” he said.
The Ambassador said that Cambodia saw the effects by the worldwide recession which occurred in 2008. Its GDP growth rate dropped in 2008 and 2009 in comparison to 10 percent average growth rate from 2002 to 2007. He added that this world economic crisis hit Toyota sales as well. While year 2008 sales were 1026 units, making the highest record, in 2009, the Toyota sales decreased to 437 units which was less than half of the previous year.
“The Japanese Embassy continues to support Cambodia’s efforts to improve its investment and environment, such as assisting improvement of roads, contributing to the country’s capacity building and promoting special economic zones,” he said. “I expect to see Cambodian government’s commitment to promote direct investment from foreign countries.”
He added: “I am confident that Toyota’s endeavor will continuously contribute to Cambodia’s economic development and will provide a good sample of friendly and mutually beneficial relationship amongst private sectors in Japan and Cambodia.”
