“It is not a Dream” Humanity Program Launched

The “It is not a Dream” Humanity Program was launched on January 13 in Phnom Penh to provide free services for Cambodian people to find their relatives lost during the wars. The launching ceremony of the program was organized by Metfone Company and Bayon Radio and Television.

Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information, presided over the launching ceremony and praised the “It is not a Dream” program organized by Metfone and Bayon Radio and TV. He said this program is good because it will help Cambodian people as well as contribute to the development of communications and new technologies and the development of Cambodia.

“I welcome and appreciate this initiative. I think that this program is very important to serve our Cambodian people both inside and outside of the country in order to find their relatives lost during the wars from 1970 to 1990s in Cambodia,” he said during opening remarks. “I hope that through this program, Cambodians will have a chance to find their relatives lost in Cambodia in the future.”

Nguyen Duy Tho, Director of the Metfone Company, said that it is the first time Metfone and Bayon Radio and TV have designed and established the “It is not a Dream” program in Cambodia. He added that the main purpose of the program is to provide free services for Cambodian people to find their relatives lost during the wars, after the wars or in the present time in Cambodia.

“There is no program of this matter yet in Cambodia. I think that this program will help Cambodians find their friends or relatives who have been lost during the wars and until present day,” he told reporters at a press conference after the meeting.

Relating to the “It is not a Dream” program, Tho said that Metfone now has 24 branches in 24 provinces with 6,000 staff members working throughout Cambodia. To carry out this program, Metfone’s research teams will be working on calling or receiving phone calls from local people every where inside and outside Cambodia.

He added that after receiving the information about Cambodian relatives lost, Metfone will cooperate with Bayon Radio and TV for broadcasting the information to all of Cambodia. ///
