Cambodia Futsal League 2009 Tournament

The Cambodian Football Federation (CFF), in collaboration with Hello and KTH Companies have organized the “Hello Cambodia Futsal League 2009 Tournament” in Phnom Penh. The Futsal competition begun on October 3 and will be completed on November 28, at the National Stadium in Phnom Penh.

Ouk Sethy Cheat, General Secretary of the Cambodian Football Federation, said that it was the third time this competition was organized in Phnom Penh. The organization aimed to find the best Futsal team for the year 2009 during the competition.

Keo Sarin, Executive Security of the Cambodia Football Federation, said the Futsal League Competition has divided into two steps in which the “Dropping Competition”. A match is going to be held every Saturday at the National Stadium from 8: 00 am to 12: 00 pm and from 2pm to 6 pm. The matches are going to be broadcasted by the state television, Television Kampuchea (TVK).

The first price winner will receive, besides the cup and a medal, 6 million riel. The silver medalist will receive 4 million riel and the bronze winner will receive 2.8 riel million.

He continued to say that last year these eight Futsal teams have also attended the Futsal League 2008 competition in Phnom Penh and as result, the Funan team won the first class of the Futsal League 2008, while the Rama Holding Group Futsal Club won the silver medal, and Olympic Youth Futsal Cub won the bronze medal.

He emphasized that the Futsal is a Brazil popular sport and it was introduced to Cambodian sport by the Cambodian Football Federation and FIFA in 1998.

Eight selected clubs and associations across the nation have attended the event. Funan Futsal Club, Rama Holding Group, Olympic Youth Futsal Club, Khmer Ei-San Futsal Club, Khmer Super Red Futsal Club, Dai Ek Kat Dey Futsal Club, Toul Sangke All Star Futsal Club, and Panda FC Club all joined the event.
