Cambodian leaders want to see Russia and Ukraine resolve conflicts peacefully

Cambodia’s top leader, Prime Minister Hun Sen, has said on Thursday that he wants to see Russia and Ukraine enter the negotiating table to find a peaceful solution together. 

Premier’s saying was made at a joint press conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Thursday after the two Prime Ministers concluded their meeting and talks. 

Samdech Hun Sen told reporters that during the meeting, he and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob also discussed the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. 

He said  that he and Ismail wanted to see a peaceful solution between Russia and Ukraine. 

“Indeed, what we want to see is a peaceful solution ... but the events in Ukraine we need to discuss in silence,” said Premier Hun Sen. 

“His Excellency Ismail and I agree that a dialogue and a peaceful solution are needed. However, ASEAN does not have a consensus to issue a statement on the Russia-Ukraine conflict,”  he said. 

He emphasized that every statement issued by ASEAN needs to have a common voice[Consensus]. 

“I, along with Prime Minister Ismail, have made it clear that ASEAN needs a common voice in order for ASEAN to be strong,”  Premier Hun Sen said. 

It is noted that Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob visited Cambodia from 23rd  to 24th  February 2022. 

Now the whole world is turning a blind eye to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

 

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to launch a military operation against Ukraine and occupied Ukraine’s Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plants.

 Leaders of major liberal countries have condemned Russia and called for Putin to withdraw his troops from Ukraine.

Sorn Elit, the Tallest Cambodian Taekwando Champion

He was speaking to The Southeast Asia Weekly on July 22. The Secretary General said that Sorn Elit, 22, is currently the best Taekwondo fighter in Cambodia. He has attended many competitions both at home and abroad and has achieved success in both fields. Chan Tra: Life of a Cambodian Traditional Tattoo Artist
