Thai Trade Exhibition 2010 Held in Phnom Penh

The Department of Export Promotion in the Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government and the Royal Thai Embassy to Cambodia has organized the Thai Trade Exhibition 2010 for six days from the 17th -22nd of June at the Diamond Exhibition Center located in Koh Pich (Diamond Island), Phnom Penh.

A total of 170 Thai companies with 263 exhibitions booths including household appliances, food and garment, textiles and leather, arts and handcrafts, chemical and cosmetics, construction materials, stationery and cultural products, pharmaceutical, and agricultural products were displayed at the Thai Trade Exhibition 2010 in Phnom Penh.

The Opening Ceremony of the Thai Trade Exhibition 2010 was presided over by Mao Thora, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce and Mr. Sri Rakroath Thakpaknak, Director General of the Department of Export Promotion in Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government on June 17th at the Diamond Exhibition Center in Koh Pich, Phnom Penh.

The Secretary of State said this event is important because it will help the Ministry of Commerce as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia in promoting business opportunities, trade and investment in the Kingdom of Cambodia. He added that the event will also help promote and strengthen the cooperation and friendship between the two countries in the future.

The purpose of the Thai Trade Exhibition was to display the Thai trade and Thai products which are the best products produced by Thai companies, said Thapaknak, adding that it was also to promote and enlarge the trade, businesses, investments, cooperation and alliance between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand in the future.

“The Department of Export Promotion in Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government is very pleased to organize the Thai Trade Exhibition 2010 in Phnom Penh. The purpose of the event is to promote trade, businesses, investments and cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand in the future,” he said during opening remarks at the Thai Trade Exhibition in Phnom Penh.

To promote the exhibition, business opportunities and Thai products, the Department of Export Promotion in Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government will continue to organize more Thai Trade events as well as Thai Fruits exhibitions every year in Cambodia in the future, he added.

Jiranun Wongmongkol, Minister Counselor (Commercial) in the Office of Commercial Affairs in the Royal Thai Embassy in Cambodia, said that according to the report of the Royal Thai Embassy, for the trade between Thai and Cambodia in 2009, the Thais gained a total of US$ 1,658 million. She emphasized that the Thai trade into Cambodia in 2009 has decreased 22 percent if compared with 2008’s trading revenues due to the declined demands or buying from Cambodian clients.

She added that to promote the Thai Trade as well as Thai products, the Department of Export Promotion in Ministry of Commerce of Thailand will organize the Thai Beauty Exhibition on July 2nd-5th, 2010 at the Paragon Cambodia Town Center in Phnom Penh. /
