RCAF’s Football Team Won 4th Samdech Hun Sen Football Tournament

A total of 34 Cambodian football teams from companies and Non-Governmental Organizations in Phnom Penh, other cities and provinces have attended the “4th Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s Football Cup 2010” from January 7th to March 7th in Cambodia.
The 4th tournament was organized by the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), and it was funded by KTC Company, KTH Company, Hello 015, 016 company and SCA, and also supported by Deputy Prime Minster Sok An, Honorary President of FFC and Phnom Penh Governor Kep Chuktema.
Through the hard competitions, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) Team won the first place this year (2010), when Phnom Penh Crown’s Football Team won took second place, and Preah Khan Reach (Royal Sword Football) Team came in at third position, according to FFC official rankings.
General Sao Sokha, Chief of Military Police and President of the Football Federation of Cambodia, said “that it marked the fourth year as FFC has organized the Samdech Techo Hun Sen Football Cup in order to select the best football players and champion for 2010”.
The FFC President General Sao Sokha continued to say that the purpose of the competition was also to encourage the people to play football as well as understand and develop the football industry in Cambodia.
“It is the fourth year for FFC organized Samdech Techo Hun Sen Football Cup and we are very proud with these competitions. Through these four competitions we’ve noted that our Cambodian football players have been developing and improving a lot both their working experiences and techniques,” he told reporters after the handing over of the trophy for the 4th successive year of the Samdech Hun Sen Football Cup 2010 on March 7.
He added that the football team which won this year competition has shown lots of their hard work, patience and hard training for their competitions.
To promote the football industry in Cambodia, Sokha called on private and international companies to continue their supports for the future football competitions in Cambodia. He also encourages the people especially the youths and young people to play football so that they can improve their health in contributing to the development of sports, the development of human resources and the progress in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Ouk Sethy Cheat, Director of the National Sport Training Center of Education of Youth and Sport and General Secretary of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), said that as result of this year’s competitions, RCAF’s Football team won the event were rewarded 80-million riel; Phnom Penh Crown’s Football Team, that finished runners up were awarded with 40 million riel; and the Preah Khan Reach’s Team that finished in third place were awarded with 20 million riel.
The Director stated that the football teams which got a “Fair Play” of the competitions have also received a total of 5 million riel; football players who scored more goals successfully received an extra 1 million riel; the best goal keepers received 1 million riel also the best referee of the tournament received a total of 5 million riel. His added that the championship and prizes giving was held under the presidency of His Excellency Kep Chuktema, Advisor and High Representative of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and Governor of the Municipality of Phnom Penh.
Thong Otdom, 23, football player of the RCAF’s Football Team, whose football team has won the football tournament of the 4th Samdech Hun Sen Football Cup 2010, said that he was happy that his team has won the first place of the competitions and received a total of 80 million riel. “I am very happy and it is the first time for my team to have won the championship. I think that this success will bring my football team’s credit and honor to the development of football industry in Cambodia. To maintain my team’s football championship as well as to prepare for future competition, I will continue to play my football and train hard,” he told The Southeast Asia Weekly during a personal interview. // /
