Cambodia Selects National Football Players for 2010

Ten selected football teams from cities and provinces have attended the “Metfone Cambodian League 2010”, starting from March 27th to August 22nd, 2010 at the National Sport Complex in Phnom Penh, and this competition is organized by the Football Federation of Cambodia, sponsored by Metfone Company.

Ouk Sethycheat, Secretary-General of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), said that it marked the first time FFC has organized “Metfone Cambodian League” in Phnom Penh to select the best football player for Metfone Cambodia League in 2010.

The 10 footfall teams participating are the top ten teams in Cambodia and they were selected by FFC to attend this football tournament in Phnom Penh, he said, adding that the competition will take place every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at the National Sport Complex.

Relating to the Metfone Cambodian League 2010’s tournament, Sethycheat said that the teams participating in the Metfone Cambodian League 2010’s tournament will profit in three phases. The first phase is the benefit of ticket sales, for every match-day, taking account of cash, will distribute to teams which are playing the game. The second phase is the Football Federation of Cambodia awards to the 10 teams that qualifying within the following prize: 1st Place: 36 million Riel (about US$ 8,570), 2nd Place : 34 million riel (about US$ 8,000), 3rd Place : 32 million Riel (about US$ 7600), 4th Place: 32 million Riel, 5th Place: 28 million Riel (about US$ 6,600), 6th Place: 26 Riel (US$6,190), 7th Place : 24 million riel (about US$ 5,700), 8th Place: 22 million riel (about US$ 5,200), 9th and 10th Place : 20 million riel (US$ 4,761).

Sethycheat said that the third step is for the medals and prizes for the play-off competition. The football teams who win the championship receive the winning cup,
The Top Scorer receives 2 million riel (about US$ 476); the best Fair Play team receives 4 million riel (US$952), the Best Referees receives 4 million riel, Best Goal keeper receives one million riel (US$ 238), the Best Coach receives two million riel, and the Best Player receives two million riel. ///
